The Torrico Families in the country of Bolivia from the city of Cochabamba

Torrico Family

December 2010

Dear Friends & family in the Lord:

First as always receive our love and greetings, but in this wonderful season receive a special Christmas greeting. Even though this time of the year is so misunderstood by many, we the believers know that these holidays are all about our Lord Jesus Christ who came with the only purpose to save us and transform us in members of His family. For this reason let’s rejoice together and celebrate the fact that He was born as a child in this world.

Many things have happened since our last letter, and although the situation of our country does not look promising lately, the Lord still has His eyes on us and takes care of us and prospers our ministries.

First I want to thank you for your prayers for the trip to the mountains, to the place called “Kaspi cancha” (Field of Sticks). Although this is a very remote area the trip was a success, not only for the ministry shared there, but also because we made good contacts with a church of a place called “Molle-Molle” in the South of our city. We were able to share the Gospel with the brethren and non believers of the village, but also some school supplies with the children and clothes with them and the adults. This area is a very hard place to live, they don’t have electricity or running water, but they love the Lord and are willing to share their faith with others. (Pictures)

Another trip was done to Avicaya, in the State of Oruro, even higher in the mountains. This used to be a flourishing area years ago, when the tin mining was on apogee. Between bad management and drop on tin prices, the town has been left like a ghost town now. Only the church remains there as a testimony; being the only building standing in good shape there. The brethren that attend there don’t live in town anymore. They believers were blessed with our visit, but there was also the opportunity to distribute Bibles in the neighbor towns to the teachers of the area and witness to them. (Pictures)

Due to the contact done with the members of the church in “Molle-Molle” we were able to plan together some activities. The most important is the visit of a group of American physicians next year in May. We did a first attempt locally with Carola and Mirtha (my cousin) and I’m glad to report that the medical and dental attention was a great success. Not only on our outreach to non believers, but also as a training for the brethren of the church on how to do things next year. Please keep this church and its members in prayer, and also the doctors of VIMM the organization that sends these medical teams to the field to do this ministry. Please pray also for us, to be good hosts and useful help on their visit. (Pictures)

This is the second year that the Lord allowed us to bring blessings to some retired pastors of our area. As we shared before with you, when pastors from our denomination retire, they stop receiving any income or help. For this reason Carola felt the need to do something for them. The Lord provided some funds and we were able to buy food and other supplies for them and gave then as a “Canastón” which translated is a “big basket”. This is a local custom; the employer gives their employees this gift at the end of the year for Christmas. These pastors don’t expect this, since they are retired, so we felt blessed to see their faces when they received these gifts. This year we felt blessed that my cousin Mirtha who is a member of our church and now a dentist, participated giving some supplies for this goal. (Pictures)

Prayer Requests

Please pray for our country, we have had many changes already, but the changes keep coming; now the government issued a law banning the subject of religion in our schools. This means he wants a country without Christian education.
Pray for the visit of the physicians from the States next year in May, that this trip will be fruitful for the Lord, with new believers and many people served through medicine.
Pray for our families, that the Lord will continue to protect us and provide for all our needs in this time of changes.

I want to close this newsletter expressing again our deep gratitude to you from our hearts, for being our family and partners in the ministry. Your prayers, friendship, love and support make our ministries possible. So receive a Merry Christmas and our sincere wishes of a very blessed 2011 always on the hands of our Lord.

Yours in Christ, For all the Torrico’s,

Jaime Jr.
